Frequently asked questions: permanent residence

I would like to set up a trailer or a mobile home at a campground and live there year round. Where can I find a list of campgrounds that allow this?

If you want to make your trailer your permanent residence, you should look for mobile home parks, trailer parks or residential communities for families or retired people. Some campgrounds have a section reserved for mobile homes, while others now offer the campground-condo option, allowing you to buy your site. In that case, ask the condominium syndic (syndic de copropriété) whether you can use the site as your permanent address.

Are there campgrounds in Quebec that are open 12 months a year?

Yes, you can reserve a campsite for short periods all year round at certain campgrounds. Remember that there are heavy snowfalls and periods of intense cold during Quebec winters. That’s why you should think about storing your RV for the winter, and opt for a tent or turnkey camping if you wish to head out at that time of year. There are about forty campgrounds open year round. Some of them offer all kinds of winter activities, including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, etc.
