Protect yourself from the sun and avoid sunburn by following these guidelines:
- Use a parasol if your activities (like lifeguarding) require you to be in the sun for extended periods
- Wear protective clothing, like a wide-brimmed hat and a long-sleeved shirt
- Wear sunglasses with UV 400 protection
- Seek out shade, but if you can’t avoid exposure to the sun, apply sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or more
