Regional camping and RVing association
Richelieu / Yamaska - 10
The Richelieu-Yamaska regional association was founded in 1976. Its first
President was Fernand Lapalme.
It is a huge region, stretching from the shores of the St. Lawrence River
to the US border and from central Quebec/Eastern Townships to the Montérégie-Sud
and Montérégie-Nord regions. It also takes in several historic
towns and cities: Sorel-Tracy, Saint-Denis and Saint-Charles, for instance,
are all located on the banks of the Richelieu River and were all the sites
of events during the 1837 rebellion. Granby, St-Hyacinthe, Mont St-Hilaire
and Bromont are other very popular tourist attractions. You can count on a
warm and courteous welcome, with friendly people everywhere you go.
One striking fact about our region is that it actually boasts over 30 campgrounds,
making it a favourite spot for all campers.
Our association has more than 2,600 member families — one of the largest
in the Federation. Through this Web page, we are hoping to communicate as often
as possible with our members and keep them up to date on the many activities
we will be holding. The Committee knows the importance of listening to members,
so please feel free to use this means of communication to send us your ideas
and comments.
Looking back on 2004
In 2004 our regional association celebrated our 25th anniversary, and the members
of the Board of Directors did their best to mark the event by adding something
special to provincial and regional rallies. Who could forget the fun-filled
appearance by Michel Courtemanche and the great show by Pierre Poirier, at
our provincial rally? Those two evenings were a real hit with participants
of every age. Everywhere we went this summer, people congratulated us and told
us what a wonderful weekend they had spent at St-Dominique.
After a one-year absence we organized a mini-rally. We are pleased that we
took this initiative, since the 19 crews that turned out were delighted with
their perfect camping weekend.
The regional rally was very simple, but much appreciated by the vast majority
of participants. The community meals organized by your committee, with the
help of some volunteers, were a memorable part of the rally, since participants
never had to make meals or do dishes. A wonderful weekend with no cooking or
washing-up is a very rare treat!
In short, we tried to make your stay with us as pleasant as possible, and
above all to give you value for money. Judging by the comments we received,
your Board of Directors can say, with no false modesty and all due humility, “mission
accomplished!” for the 2004 camping season.
What does the future hold?
You can expect other surprises, for your committee is busy putting together
all the ingredients for more enjoyable and memorable rallies.
