Regional camping and RVing association Beauce/Appalaches
(07) Back in the fall of 1988, a provisional committee was formed and a
new regional camping association was born, known as Beauce/Appalaches 07. In July
of the following year, with René Béland as President, a provincial
rally was held at the Beauceville arena, attended by over 120 families from the
17 regions, including five regional presidents. FQCC President Jean Taillon presented
us with our official flag. From the original 60 members, our Association
has now grown to 1250 families. Six other presidents have followed in René's
footsteps: Réal Gilbert, Jeannot Fournier, Maurice Poulin, Guy-Noël
Vachon, Maurice Giguère and Jean-Roch Jacques. The Association covers
the Beauce, Bellechasse, Etchemins, Amiante and the Côte Sud, but not the
cities along the St. Lawrence from Lévis to Montmagny. From north to south,
it extends from St-Jean-Chrysostome to the Maine border; from east to west, it
stretches from Black Lake to St-Roch-des-Aulnaies. Our region has many
faces, given the huge expanses crossed by the Appalachian range. In the middle,
the imperturbable Chaudière River cuts through a fertile valley; on the
east are verdant plateaux surrounded by mountains, rivers and maple stands; to
the west are mines and lakes. Nature is a constant delight in every season, as
the maple stands burst into leaf in the spring, while summer is great for outdoor
activities, fall is the time to celebrate the harvest and brilliant colours, and
winter promises lots of sparkling white fun. Forestry, farming and industry
all flourish in the Beauce/Appalaches region. The people of the Beauce, or Beaucerons,
have a reputation as inventors and entrepreneurs, after all. The people
who build this region left us a heritage to share - from a religious heritage
to our rich cultural traditions and regional dishes and tourist attractions. You
can explore them all, knowing you'll find a warm welcome wherever you go. One
characteristic of our region is the emphasis on family. Children are always welcome,
and activities are planned with them in mind. The Board is determined to meet
all challenges and does so with good humour, joie de vivre and readiness to lend
a helping hand. Its objectives include promoting our constantly growing region
and satisfying members. Our Association took part in the international rallies
in Bromont in 1992 and St-Jean-sur-Richelieu in 2002. It also brought home three
Lucien Rhéaume trophies in 2000, 2001 and 2003, at general meetings of
the Federation.
